Welcome to Kiki Black Studio. We are a husband & wife team who love working with glass and clay to create sculptural art or practical homeware & accessories. Based in our studio in Bicester, Oxfordshire, our creativity is inspired by nature, colour and pattern. We use a number of different techniques, including glass fusion, cast glass kiln firing and clay sculpting.

We also run clay classes and fun family workshops in our studio. Take a look at the Workshops page for more details.
About Kiki
I graduated from Caerleon University to follow a teaching career in Primary Education. I specialised in art and clay sculpture, and throughout my teaching career have kept my creative skills alive. Whilst teaching I became Art Coordinator in a variety of schools and have been an active advocate in highlighting the importance of artistic creativity for children and adults alike. Please take a look at the
Art Specialist page for more information about the in-school training services I offer.

I completed a course in Lampworking and started making glass beads and jewellery. Simon and I worked together to start up Kiki Black Studio. As much as I enjoyed working with glass, clay has always been my first love! I now focus on creating ceramic sculptures and homeware. I also run clay classes and family workshops from our studio in Bicester. Take a look at the Workshops page for more details.

About Simon
I have a love of nature and the outdoors. Walking in the countryside with Kiki and our 2 dogs Dash & Otto, gives me the inspiration for my designs. I'm a keen photographer - colour and pattern play a big part in how I develop my ideas.

When we set up Kiki Black Studio I quickly realised working with glass was what sparked my creativity the most. I learned about Glass Fusion – a process of fusing different coloured or textured glass together in a high heat kiln to create patterns and shapes.

Recently I have been exploring Cast Glass firing. This has opened up a new way of working glass. Bowls, dishes, drinks coasters - the possibilities in combining colour and form are exciting and rewarding. Take a look at some of our work on the Sculptures page.
